The Day The Crayons Quit - cover

I just received the copy of “The Day the Crayons Quit” that I ordered from Amazon.com. Laughed so hard as I read it aloud that I woke up our sleeping Golden Retriever, Annie. She looked so sad that she had missed some of the fun that I started over from the beginning. Okay….. yes I know it’s a little geeky to be reading to my Golden but I like to practice reading a book to get the flow of it before trying it out with the kids in my work as a SLP & kids yoga teacher at the JD McCarty Center.

This book is HILARIOUS! This will be such a fun way to work on vocabulary, feelings, humor, inferencing & more.

So then my quest to find “freebies” to go with the book began. I didn’t find any free coloring sheets online for the book yet so I made this one:

The following items mentioned by the crayons in the book would provide fun opportunities for kids yoga: fire truck, apple, strawberry, Santa, heart, grapes, dragons, pointed hat, bear, pony, puppy, wheat, elephant, rhino, hippo, humpback whale, baby penguin, tiny pebbles, cat, beach ball, crocodile, tree, dinosaur, frog, sun, monkey, ocean, lake, river, raindrops, rain clouds, princess, monster, cowboy, airplane, boat. Like the ending to the story, get “an A+ for creativity”. Would love to hear creative ideas for kids yoga poses, breathwork & activities 🙂

    This book looks like fun for the whole family! And who hasn’t read to their pet at one point or another, right??! I especially love the resources you can use as and after you read the book together as a family. Love love the connection between the colors in the book and kids yoga!

  3. I laughed so hard when I realized Annie should have said “4 paws up”. …. a true indicator that she thinks of herself as a furry human (’cause she is to us) 🙂
