Here’s what I love about this book:

  • A picture of the kids yoga pose is in the corner of each page
  • The targeted vocabulary for each letter is in bold font
  • The font is large & easy to read
  • The alphabet letter is large but more faintly shown than the rest of the picture on each page. This will make it fun for kids to look for the letter (an easy version of a seek-and-find)
  • It’s a fun way to learn the names of Australian wildlife. Some are familiar (crocodile, whale, jellyfish, koala, etc…) but most would be new to those of us who do not live in that part of the world (brolga, echidna, goanna, numbat, quoll, etc…).
  • The 6-page Parent-Teacher Guide section at the end of the coloring book is a goldmine of great tips for setting up a fun & safe yoga storytime for kids. Gotta share this quote from the book: “Ooze creativity, imagination and abundance. Encourage each child to tap into his or her own creativity and imagination through movement and breath. Welcome quiet times for reflection. Pause often. Remember, it’s not the end result, but the journey where miracles happen…“. She also gives several ideas for extension activities. Giselle’s passion and love for kids & learning shines through :)
  • Lots of great verbs & adjectives will make this book fun to use in my work as a Speech-Language Pathologist (ex: a crocodile snoozing in the swampy mangroves, a platypus paddling in a murky river, etc…).
  • LOVE the combination of nature, alphabet/early literacy skills, coloring & movement….. what a fun way to tap into “multiple intelligences”! Add some Australian music & affirmations to tap into a couple more. (More info about this concept at: &×17.jpg)

  4. Entries via the Facebook tab:

    * Hi there! If I won this book in the giveaway, I would use it in my kids yoga classes, workshops, and camps. I would theme the entire class/camp around Australia, or around the wildlife in Australia and teach the kids not only yoga poses, but also about the flora, fauna, and wildlife native to Australia!

    * I will lovingly incorporate this book into the passionate work I do with very young children (and their families!) with a variety of disabilities and individual challenges, in order to empower them with emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual well-being, in my blended work as a pediatric speech-language pathologist, children’s yoga instructor & healing touch energy medicine practitioner!!!!!

    * I am preparing to begin teaching my first children’s yoga class and I’m looking for all the resources I can get to help me! I also look forward to sharing the poses with my own two children, ages 4 and 6.

    * I will use this book as a tool for my kids yoga class where I teach children with special needs at a non profit agency. Just starting out and looking for great resources!

    * I would be using this book in connection with my weekly yoga practice with students with severe behavioral and emotional challenges. The students really enjoy our yoga group and have learned coping skills to decrease negative emotional outbursts.

    * I teach for YoKid, a non-profit dedicated to bringing yoga to underserved youth in the greater Washington DC area. I mostly teach at schools with high percentages of students receiving free and reduced lunches; my students are definitely disadvantaged and struggling academically. I try to give them as much variety in our yoga practice as possible. I bring in books, coloring pages, songs, games, and activities that broaden their horizons, utilize their talents, and challenge them in a supportive, fun way. I think this book is a great combination of yoga theory and cute coloring pictures. And the kids are always eager to learn when animals are involved!

    * I just began teaching yoga at our local small town learning center and would love to share more:)

  5. Another fantastic resource. I know my students will just love doing the different poses and relating them to animals that they are familiar with….Thank you, thank you, thank you…x 🙂
