Kids Yoga Lesson Plan Contest on OMazing Kids

OMazing Kids is hosting a Kids Yoga Lesson Plan Contest!

Based on your feedback you thought it would be a fun way to connect, share ideas and to celebrate having 2,000+ folks enjoying the kids yoga & wellness fun on the OMazing Kids Facebook page 🙂

I want to keep this simple & friendly so here are the rules:

Lesson Plan Requirements

  • MS Word or PDF document
  • Use at least 12 point Arial font
  • Single spaced on a single letter-sized page with margins of at least .5 inch (for ease of sharing & printing)
  • Written in English. If you use Sanskrit names for poses, please also include English name/description.
  • Include targeted age range
  • Include at least 1 picture on the page
  • Include your name, e-mail address, website, Facebook page & links to any other social media sites
  • Feel free to also list books, props, music, crafts, etc. and info about where folks might be able to find them.
  • International entries are allowed.
  • More than 1 lesson plan may be submitted as long as each one is in a separate Word or PDF document 🙂

Please keep in mind that many folks who follow the OMazing Kids Facebook page & blog are new to kids yoga so please keep the information simple & brief. Please avoid using words or images that have any religious connotations.

Looking forward to seeing all your fun ideas! 🙂

Entry Deadline: Submit via e-mail by 11:59pm CST on October 9, 2012.  E-mail to: amoorad1@juno.com. I will “reply” to acknowledge receipt of your lesson plan.

All submissions will be saved in PDF format to the OMazing Kids Blog & a screenshot picture of each one will be saved in an album on the OMazing Kids Facebook page on October 10, 2012. The album will be announced on the OMazing Kids blog & social media sites when “voting” begins. Each picture will contain the link to the PDF of the lesson plan so folks will have the opportunity to read the entire lesson plans before voting. The picture/plan with the most “likes” in the Facebook album by 11:59pm CST on October 12, 2012 will win.

The “Prize”: The winning lesson plan will be announced on the OMazing Kids blog with the entire lesson plan text & picture(s), author’s name, website, Facebook page & other social media page links included. It will be announced & shared on all the OMazing Kids social media sites and your Facebook page will be “tagged” and folks will be encouraged to go “like” your page (think of it as a social media blitz to help promote your website & social media sites). The winner will also have the opportunity to receive a custom made visual support and story props made by me to go with their lesson plan and consultation regarding inclusion of kids with special needs. The details for that will be handled via e-mail correspondence with me.

  2. Congratulations to the winning entry in the Kids Yoga Lesson Plan Contest: “Using Books to Practice Kids Yoga” by Gail Pickens-Barger of YogaKiddos with Gaileee https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.319789631405382.90798.174264525957894&type=3#!/photo.php?fbid=454637441253933&set=a.454637344587276.123432.174264525957894&type=1&theater (http://yogakiddos.blogspot.com/)! Thanks to everyone who participated…… LOVED all the lesson plans 🙂

  3. The 5 lesson plan entries have been uploaded to the blog as PDF’s and a pic of each has been posted in an album on the OMazing Kids Facebook page for voting: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.454637344587276.123432.174264525957894&type=1. Click “like” on a pic to vote for that lesson plan. Each pic is a screenshot with a link to the PDF of the lesson plan & the author’s info including their website or blog and a “tag” of their Facebook page. I love them all! Which is your fave? The picture/plan with the most “likes” in the Facebook album by 11:59pm CST on October 14, 2012 will win.

  4. Update: I’ve had a few things come up this week but will have time to get the 5 entries saved on the blog & in an album on the FB page by tomorrow evening 🙂 I will post an announcement when the album is up on the FB page and ready for voting.

  5. Will our lessons plans be visible to everyone? I don’t mind sharing and I always give credit where credit is due, but I do mind “stealing!” (Awesome idea, by the way!!)

      • Hi Kristin – I’m hoping that by having the lesson plans in PDF format with the author’s name, e-mail address, website, Facebook page & links to their social media sites will deter anyone from “stealing” the ideas & trying to pass them off as their own. Hoping this will just be a fun way for us to all share our ideas 🙂
