Review & Giveaway: Kings & Queens of the Forest CD by Kira Willey

Ready for more amazing music? Kira Willey, award-winning singer/songwriter and certified children’s yoga teacher, has come out with her much-anticipated 2nd CD!

Kings & Queens of the Forest” blends upbeat, danceable music with get-up-and-move yoga inspiration for kids. The album includes 13 joyful folk/pop originals and 13 bonus Yoga Tracks with instructional voice-overs, as well as a lyric booklet that guides parents with illustrations of Kira’s kid-friendly yoga routines. This is music parents will love as much as their kids and the bonus tracks engage the kids in simple and fun yoga, with its incredible mind/body benefits. Kira’s pure, sweet, and soothing voice resonates with kids. Parents of children with special needs report that their kids are captivated by Kira’s songs, and preschool teachers, occupational therapists, and other youth workers regularly use Kira’s songs in their work. Her fun and easy-to-follow yoga instruction teaches self-awareness, improves balance and strength, and builds confidence.

What I LOVE about this CD:

  • I am a huge fan of folk music for kids and Kira’s vocal and musical style makes you smile inside  🙂  …. I enjoy listening to it just as music as well as using it in my work with kids as a Speech-Language Pathologist & in OMazing Kids Yoga.
  • The songs would be great to use in any classroom, therapy clinic & yoga studio….. the songs have universal appeal.
  • Songs can tie in to specific yoga poses & the instructional book with lyrics and pics of each yoga sequence for each song is attached to the inside cover of the CD case. The yoga tracks include detailed instruction from Kira with the music playing softly in the background.
  • The music will appeal to a wide age range of kids (and even those of us who are “kids at heart”!).
  • Love the positive & upbeat message in each of the songs. Listen to the lyrics and you will hear many great built-in self-affirmations, positive social interactions & messages of taking care of our world!
  • A portion of this CD’s proceeds are being donated to KidsPeace (www.kidspeace.org)
  • All the songs are so great & unique in their own way that I can’t pick a “fave”…. Love them all!

  3. Here are the comments from the entries received via the “Enter Giveaways Here…” tab on the OMazing Kids Yoga Facebook page:

    * This CD looks like an amazing addition to use with my creative kids group and creative kids yoga classes. I love the nature aspect to many of the songs. And the folksy feel connects with my teaching style. I think my students will be lucky to have this cd added to our varied collection of music. Thanks for sharing!

    * Cool songs! This could definitely be a helpful addition to some nature lessons in my kids yoga classes. The music and dance themed songs would also be fun to move or play to in a lesson! I think the bonus tracks with the instructional voice-overs is a nice touch as well. 🙂

    * I would love to have this cd for my children’s yoga classes! I love that it comes with an instruction booklet with yoga sequences. Thanks, Angela!!

    * Greetings Angela and thank you for this giveaway! I was just mentioning this CD at a workshop on Friday about my book Stories That Come Alive Through Yoga. I had listened to some sample music from this CD and loved the sound of it! I couldn’t wait to share information about it to the group.. Unfortunately I did not have a copy to play to them.. So, if I won this give away I would share this CD to others who want to share the gift of yoga to children. I would also use it with the children I work with in my yoga class!
What a great resource to add to a yoga class with children!!

    * I would be introducing this cd to the circle time and center time activities at my preschool. It would serve as a resource for the teachers to help bring our yoga initiative to more portions of our strictly scheduled days.

    * I would be delighted to use the cd for playing yoga in my kids classes. We love dancing to Kira’s other cd especially Surfer Mama!

    * I work with kids from preschool to 8th grade; typical and special needs. This sounds like it would be a wonderful addition to our classes.

    * LOVE Kira Wiley’s first album and use it religiously in my wee yoga kids classes. Would love to hear this new one to gain some new material to help the creative juices flowing in all of my kids yoga classes. I also love these CD’s to play while I am cooking my kids dinner. I am a single Mom and need to get especially creative around the end of the day. So dinnertime we crank up the music and dance or do yoga while I am cooking. Works like a charm! I would love to add new music to our repertoire!

    * I have my own program MI YOGA, teaching kids yoga in different places in CC, Texas. I always looking for new ideas, new music and everything can make my classes fun and good for my kids!!Love the idea to combine music with yoga!!!

    * Hi OMazing Kids Yoga!I love following your posts! Thanks for doing this fun give away. Kira is one of my favorite artists. It was during my last day of a year and a half Integrative Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Program that I knew I wanted to teach kids. One of my peers shared a beautiful kids song Dance for the Sun. During our singing and sun salutation I began to cry and couldn’t stop. The song was just so sweet. I imagined myself dancing and singing with children and just the though of teaching yoga to kids filled me with joy. I had an ahaaa moment! What a beautiful thing to bring to children. As a child I had so much pressure and stress. With sports, school, singing, dancing and all of my activities I was a crazy child. Yoga would have had a huge impact on my life, attitude and behavior.
Knowing that I can teach children yoga is so much fun. I am teaching over 8 kid yoga classes and I’m having so much fun! As a young yogi myself parents are excited to send their children to my class. The kids look up to me and get excited to come to yoga class. I would put good use to this cd as I do a lot of volunteering. So far in the past 2 months I have taught over 200 children and in the month of March for National Nutrition Month I’ll be going on a school tour and to share this music with kids is not only inspirationally calming, but positive and would bring light and love to hundreds of children. Thanks for offering this fun give away. I’d love to use the cd in my classes!

    * I love Kira Willey’s music! I’d use with my preschool and young school age classes as we explore pretend play and yoga movements. Some of my kiddos have special needs, such as sensory integration differences, Asperger’s Syndrome, or ADHD. Yoga is a favorite way for them to learn to focus and calm.

    * I would use it to do yoga with my daughter and my afterschool yoga.

    * This would be a great CD to use when I teach 1st-3rd graders with special needs!!!! I hope I win!!!!! 🙂

I’ve been wanting to find some new music for my 1st thru 3rd graders with special needs. They love doing activity songs, but I need some new ones!!! This looks like a fun CD!

  5. As we are looking for more and more ways to incorporate yoga into our preschool, this CD would be a great way to help the teachers bring it into our circle and center time activities:)

  6. Kids and adults in my family yoga classes love Kira’s music. I would use the CD to continue engaging the students with yoga & music, bringing poses to life with Kira’s songs. Especially with the younger kids, the sweet, positive music is what they especially love, remember and what keeps them coming back!

  10. This CD looks like so much fun! I love the nature themes throughout and the folksy feel is great for my creative kids group and creative kids yoga classes.
