Review & Giveaway: Musical Yoga Adventures – World Journey CD

Are you ready to go on another musical yoga adventure to stretch your body, tune your mind, and lift your spirit?

Linda Lara, composer, musician, certified yoga teacher & special education music teacher, has come out with her much anticipated 2nd CD “Musical Yoga Adventures: World Journey”. It is designed for kids & teens ages 7 to 14.

Musical Yoga Adventures: World Journey combines the abundant benefits of music and yoga. The words and rhythms are specifically designed to enhance your ability to learn and remember the yoga poses and sequences.

The CD has music influenced by Africa, China, Egypt, Japan, Latin America & Native America and is divided into vocal and instrumental sections. Each song creates the ambience of that special & unique place in our world with instruments and nature/animal sounds from that location.  It also includes a song “Lean on Me” for Partner Poses & a relaxation track “Sa Ta Na Ma” which includes a beautiful blessing from Shakta Khalsa of Radiant Child Yoga to all children.

What I LOVE about this CD:

  • The music will appeal to a wide age range of kids & teens (and even those of us who are adults but “kids at heart”!).
  • Great mix of energizing & calming rhythms.
  • The vocal tracks are slow enough to actually be able to do yoga along with them.
  • Each song truly gives you the feeling of being in that location…. The background nature/animal sounds are fabulous!
  • All the songs are so great & unique in their own way that I can’t pick a “fave”…. Love them all!
  • Love the inclusion of the partner poses song & the Sa Ta Na Ma blessing 🙂

  2. Here are the comments from the 19 entries received via the “Enter Giveaways Here…” tab on the OMazing Kids Yoga Facebook page:

    * I’m a social worker that intends to become a yoga teacher that works with children with disabilities. I am planning to learn as much as I can about children’s yoga in the two or three years before I finish all of the preemptive work to become a yoga teacher. In the meantime, my cousin is three and her parents work a ton. My sister and I have been great older cousins and have helped her to grow and learn as she gets older. Her parents, both athletes, love the idea of getting her involved in yoga, and I do too as a yogi myself! I would love to teach her and help her and get her interested in it!

    * My daughter has been practicing more and more yoga moves on her own. She is very intelligent and therefore I must keep things new and integrated. I have just begun building a collection for her and appreciate any assistance along the way.

    * I work with special needs children at a school that goes up to 8th grade and would love to share this journey of music with them. They love when we combine music with our yoga class activities.

    * I am a former primary school teacher. I would love to have had something like this to use with my students. Now, I am excited to use it with my grandchildren. Body awareness, stress management, and relaxation are only some of the benefits I envision.

    * I enjoyed the first CD and use it often, so I know that this new one could come in handy! I’m looking forward to using the partner song and the relaxation tracks with my classes. Also, as a former classroom music teacher, I also appreciate any CD that introduces world music to kids! 🙂

    * I teach creative dance on the island of Maui. My program is a fusion of freeform, yoga, hip hop, and hula. We also do free form ribbon dance to our live drummer. My goal is to inspire kids to love movement and music, and to make it a part of their everyday lives. I would love to feature your music in my class and create special yoga dances to the songs.

    * I would love to add this music into my creative movement based yoga classes! I love using new songs with my students!

    * I am an elementary school teacher in PA. I just got my ChildLight yoga certification in
July!! I love The Musical Yoga Adventures CD and incorporate music in all that I do weather its teaching writing or yogaaa!!! I love love love music and express it in every one of my classes that I teach!!!! High Hopes 🙂 Namaste.

    * I would love to use this cd for my childrens yoga classes! I’m always looking for new ideas and I love the first cd!

    * I teach music to special needs students who need to work on stretching and flexing their muscle (due to moderate to severe physical disabilities) as well as moving calmly and following directions. This CD provides the perfect opportunity for all of these activities. The verbally directed movement can be adapted or done in pairs which would promote socialization among my autistic students. Specific directions are also good for students to practice listening, and the soothing music is great for helping students relax.

    * I teach children’s yoga classes five days a week and I am always looking for new music to use in classes. I like this sun salutation song and it would be great to have.

    * I am beginning my journey in teaching children’s yoga – both to my own daughters and in classes, and I live abroad and would love to be able to focus on some classes going on a world journey to add to ideas – sounds so fun! I like to have a story that I bring a lesson into, as well as learning about the importance of yoga – I tie things in to each lesson and a world journey would definitely add to ideas for stories.

    * My girls would love to “travel the world” on their yoga mats! We “visit the zoo” quite often!

    * We absolutely LOVE Linda’s first CD and use at least one song in every class we teach. I can’t wait to get my hands on her newest CD and share it with my own children, as well as the many students at Learning Tree Yoga 🙂

    * I would love this for both my daughter and my yoga class.

    * I would use it to enhance the class that I teach weekly, I’m always looking for new ideas and inspiration, I’m sure the kids would love it

    * I am planning on teaching to middle schools next year. This would help!

    * I’d love to use this CD with my special needs 1st-3rd graders!!

    * As a first grade teacher I am always searching for way to give my student “brain breaks”. One of the ways I have been using for the past two years is doing brief yoga sessions in the afternoon. It calms and centers my students in a way that nothing else does. I make up animal names for the different poses, and sometimes tell stories to go along with our poses. Thanks for the chance to win! This CD would be put to use.

  3. I teach music to special needs students and would find this CD extremely helpful with flexing and stretching muscles for my students with moderate to severe physical disabilities. Also the partner song would be great to help develop socialization skills with my autistic students. The specific directions in the song are helpful for developing listening skills and the soothing music will help relax students.

  4. I would love to win this cd! I have the first cd and I know that this one will be perfect for my childrens yoga classes!

  5. I enjoyed the first CD and use it often, so I know that this new one could come in handy! I’m looking forward to using the partner song and the relaxation tracks with my classes. Also, as a former classroom music teacher, I also appreciate any CD that introduces world music to kids! 🙂
