Looking for a fun yoga story for kids that includes pictures of the poses & instructions on each page of the story?
Jungle Walk: A Yoga Story for Kids will be a fun addition to the library of any kids yoga teacher, parent or classroom teacher!
Product Description: Jungle Walk: A Yoga Story for Kids by Lakshmi Gosyne – Keya wants to go outside and play, but it’s literally a jungle out there! Her mother warns her not to get lost and Keya tries her best to listen, but the animals have something else in mind. Join Keya on her adventure as she encounters jungle wildlife including exotic flowers, hungry birds, a confused antelope, a slithery snake and a bathing baby elephant. Using traditional yoga poses in a flowing sequence, children will increase their fitness, learn body awareness and have lots of fun.
Here’s what I love about this book:
- I love that the story is set in the Palpur-Kuno Wildlife Sanctuary in Madhya Pradesh, India & that the author includes information about the sanctuary and the animals and people who live there. This book would be easy to incorporate into classroom studies on cultures, animals, healthy activity for kids (yoga), etc.
- I love the simple colorful illustrations. It is easy to pick out the target poses on each page.
- Photos & instructions for each pose are included either on the border of each page or a facing page. This makes it very user-friendly for folks who may not be familiar with yoga poses & the inclusion of the pose pictures will help kids who are visual learners or who have motor planning difficulties see what they need to do to make their body be like the animal in the story.
- The poses included are developmentally appropriate for the targeted audience. The author indicates that she has used the book successfully with toddlers to 10 year olds and indicates the book is ideal for 5-7 year olds. She includes ideas for modifications for younger & older kids.
- Two yoga breathing activities are included in the story.
- The ending of the book would lend itself well to a discussion with kids about the dangers of wandering off and how it would make a parent feel.

Here are the comments from the entries received via the Enter Giveaways Here tab on the OMazing Kids Yoga Facebook page:
1. I am beginning a kids yoga program at a brand new studio. We have a few trickling in. And some very unique ones with special needs. The autistic community especially would benefit from this book – they understand stories and are especially wonderful story tellers themselves. Thank you! Namaste.
2. I would use this book to hopefully increase my students’ interest in yoga.
3. I would love to use this book in my childrens yoga classes! I like that the author includes ways to us with older and younger kids. I’m always looking for new books with animal poses and this looks awesome!
4. I love using books in teaching all of my children’s yoga classes especially my special needs class! Always looking for something new to put in my hat of tricks! Hope to win!!!
5. I teach a special needs class in a public school. The kids are in grades K-3. I haven’t used books in my class, but I’d like to try something new and I think the kids will enjoy it!
6. Thanks again for the opportunity to possibly win a copy of this book for use in my school. I am a counselor in an elementary school on the Flathead Reservation in Montana. I work with kids in every grade to develop skills to stay healthy and be successful in all aspects of their lives. Yoga has become a part of my curriculum that kids really enjoy and value. Any resource I can get is helpful in advancing my knowledge of how to share the wonderful practice of yoga.
7. I would be using the book with the children’s yoga classes I teach. They would love it!
8. This looks like fun! I would use it with my own two daughters, 3 and 5 years old – and I have been asked to come and teach in the preschool where my 5 year old is and could use ideas from this as well 🙂 I love using animal stories/adventures to engage them in using yoga – doing so also helps them remember a few of the poses too! We live in Thailand and it is harder to find things to do with children’s yoga here so I try to follow as many things as I can online, and take the opportunity to try to win any fun books!
