Looking for a unique kid’s yoga DVD with no distractions? Then the new Yoga Motion DVD by Namaste Kid would be a great one to get!
The unique thing about this kids yoga DVD is that it has no distractions in the background.
Just a kid-friendly yoga instructor on her yoga mat on a plain white background.
Lindsay McCoy’s positive, calm energy makes yoga fun and approachable. It’s like having a personal yoga instructor in your child’s living room, your classroom or your therapy clinic/office.
Yoga Motion helps kids develop core strength, balance, and confidence. You can even use the relaxation chapters as part of your child’s bedtime routine.
- The DVD is organized into 10 chapters.
- Each chapter is a complete 3-4 minute yoga routine, identified by a colorful icon.
- You can mix-and-match chapters to create your own unique yoga experience.
- This DVD can also be played from beginning to end as a full 35-minute yoga routine.
They have found that this format works well with young kids short attention spans and also works well with kids who have ADHD, Autism, etc…..
We have already found this to be true with some of the kids we work with at the JD McCarty Center. One of our Physical Therapists was reviewing the DVD and two children with special needs who happened to be in the exercise room at that time were immediately captivated by the DVD and started to follow along. Namaste Kid has generously donated 24 copies of the previous version of this DVD to give away at my presentation at the Oklahoma Autism Conference & to patients at the JD McCarty Center so I look forward to having more stories to tell about the kids responses to this cool DVD!
While the DVD was designed for young kids (2.5 to 8 years old), it also would be appropriate for older kids that need a simplified format with no distractions.
Why does a “distraction-free” background matter?….
(FYI… the blue painting in the background above is a portion of “Sensory Chaos” by Donna Proctor: http://fineartamerica.com/featured/sensory-chaos–autism-donna-proctor.html)
This is the “Warm-up” sequence from the Yoga Motion DVD. Your child will learn “Rock-and-Roll”, “Zipper”, and “Cat-Cow”, as well as some breathing techniques.

UPDATE:
We used the Namaste Kid Yoga Motion DVD in OMazing Kids Yoga at the JD McCarty Center this week. Really cool to see a 4 year old who is extremely hyperactive (often likened to “Taz” in the cartoons) be able to experience moments of focus and calm to participate with the DVD and a teen in a wheelchair who rarely attempts to move his body attempting modifications of some of the poses (and talked about how much he loved coming to yoga).
The DVD is now also available in the ChildLight Yoga online boutique: http://www.childlightyoga.com/Yoga_Motion_DVD_p/yogamotion01.htm

More amazing feedback from of of our PT’s at the JD McCarty Center about a pre-teen patient who is usually very talkative and a little difficult to keep focused. When doing the DVD she was totally focused….something amazing about the distraction-free background!
This sounds like a great DVD! : )
The distraction background would be great for my child with mild ADHD, it is really good for any child. The less to process the better.
Yoga is itself the cessation of the turnings of thought (citta-vrtti-niodha) and by that it means to not be distracted by thoughts….so affording children the experience of doing something while not being distracted is a treasure. I know my son, who recently has been drawn more and more to my practice, would love the freedom that “no distraction” would allow! And I teach many kids classes in schools and after school and I would hope the DVD would give me insight to offer a practice to them without distraction.
I am an early childhood music specialist just turned RYT 200 hours Yoga Teacher. I’m hoping to combine the two. My goal has always been to get families to turn off the tv and sing together. I know hope to give them one more reason to have ‘distraction free’ time together. This goal has become closer to my heart since the birth of my granddaughter Olivia. The goal of getting families to interact has become more urgent in this day of the virtual world overshadowing the ‘real’ world.
I have a 3 and 5 year old who would both benefit from a distraction free video for yoga would work well for them. They pay attention and follow directions more effectively when presented clear and clean rather that information overload.
We’ve tried quite a few kids’ yoga DVDs, but they all seem to have too many extras .. too much cutesy story line or what not that distract from the practice. This is one that I’ve had my eye on for a while.. Thanks for the chance!

“I would love this DVD to use as part of my “Social Blossoms” yoga-based
afterschool program! We focus on building social skills and coping strategies through
yoga! This would be perfect!”

Kai in Huddleson, VA ” SO many kids’ yoga DVDs are just over the top with cute story lines and/or trying to somehow force yoga into a “kid friendly” mode. My girls get distracted by the stories and forget to do the yoga because they end up zoning out on the story, etc.”

We have this DVD at our home, among other children’s yoga DVDs. My two young sons love it and request this particular one often. It is so nice to be able to pop it in and do a few routines here and there, or complete the entire practice. As an owner of a children’s yoga studio and Certified YogaKids Teacher, I recommend this DVD for all ages!
Hi Jessie – Cool! I’ll share your comments on my OMazing Kids Facebook page & tag your Learning Tree Yoga page (love your logo & posts!) & website 🙂 It would be great if YogaKids would come do some of their trainings here in Oklahoma sometime.

Can’t wait to use this DVD! Distraction free? What a gift to little ones!
My youngest never sits still. Even when she’s sitting, she’s fidgiting and squirming around. I think this would be perfect for her! Awesome.
I would love to get this for my sister. She is a special ed preschool teacher. She already does some little stretches and things with them. Since it is a special ed room…and they ARE preschoolers, they have short attention spans. This would be a great thing to help break up the day for them while still doing something that will be helpful to their little bodies and minds!
My young sons are easily distracted, and it’s hard for one of them to do any visual media at all because he can’t process it typically. I think the calm, peaceful demeanor and background in this video would be perfect for both of them.
I am currently the teacher of history’s most talkative third grade busy bodies. So cute, but so unproductive at times. A newly certified child yoga instructor, I integrate yoga breaks and meditations into our days, but I’ve been searching for a great video to pop in during rainy day recesses. A distraction-free routine might be just the thing we need!
I have 4 year old boy/girl twins. I would love to see how they react differently to the destraction free background. I think it would work especially well for my son
My daughter is 3 1/2 and loves yoga. Unfortunately, my yoga DVDs don’t hold her attention very long, and soon she’s busting into a dance routine or looking out the window at passing cars. A distraction free yoga DVD would really help her start a practice that she can stick with and love!
Excited to be hosting another great giveaway! Please help spread the word 🙂
